2.1.10 -- Believe it or not, we're almost ready to release Sounds of the stARTled Salmon Vol. 3! Wow. Maybe one month away? Stay tuned!
1.26.10 -- Important announcement! I'll no longer be working at the stARTled Salmon full time; however, I'll still be running stARTled Salmon records, shows, and will be available by appointment for recording. Come on out Saturday the 23rd, 7pm-9pm, for a night of slam poetry hosted by Kathleen Jorgensen. Pink Cloud Project is hosting a benefit for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program on the evening of Feb. 5th -- lots of great stuff coming up!
1.19.10 -- CD release party was hot! Sounds of the stARTled Salmon Vol. 2 is now officially available for purchase! Only $5 -- get one! Here's a video someone shot of BULK playing Las Putas at the release party... intense stuff! I'll be adding pictures soon! Come on out Saturday the 23rd, 7pm-9pm, for a night of slam poetry hosted by Kathleen Jorgensen. If her incredible performance at the CD release party is any indication of things to come, it should be really awesomely intense!
1.15.10 -- Tomorrow night (Sat.) is our CD release party...! Runefire Records in Anchorage sent us some INCREDIBLE black metal from Bound by Entrails. Seriously, this is some seriously awesome BM -- if you're a fan of heavy music, GET SOME!
1.14.10 -- Yo -- check out this KFMJ interview with Jason C. -- talking up the new compilation CD. Tune in to KRBD tomorrow morning -- Jason and Brandon (Buck Up Little Kamper / Skaltros) will be on the morning show talking about the album, and giving listeners a preview of some of the material, to be released Saturday night!!! ... If you haven't yet noticed, we have a rapidly-growing Youtube channel dedicated to Ketchikan music, and stARTled Salmon Records releases... check it out! Posted a couple free radio shows of Haida +Siberian epic poetry, with music by Minor Arcana and Drosera! Working on recording Pink Cloud Project -- they're going to sound awesome! 12.17 -- Our Alaskan Music Distro is up and running, and the site has been reorganized to make navigation way easier. We're taking pre-orders on both the Skaltros album, and our second compilation CD -- perhaps our two most awesome releases EVER!!! Place an order now to ensure you get a copy ASAP! In other news the Skaltros album is at the printers! Expect the stARTled Salmon Records CD release of this black metal masterpiece soon... plus it will be the first of our musical offerings also available for download via itunes, amazon, emusic, and CDBaby! 12.14 If you're in the KTN area, tune in to KRBD tonight at 6.30pm... word on the street is that Kathleen Jorgensen and Lila Day will be on the air, reading some of their poetry from the upcoming Sounds of the stARTled Salmon Vol. 2 disc! Skaltros album is nearly complete, and... WOW it is awesome! Some seriously cold black metal. Album release in January, around the same time as the compilation CD. Lots of new recording projects lately... expect to hear some really great stuff in the future! The new Buck Up Little Kamper material in the works is smoking hot!! Help support local music by buying from us!
12.10 Drosera CDs are officially in stock! Pick one up -- seriously awesomdark/ambient music, made in Alaska. Also, Charlie Lustman performing tomorrow night... I'm especially psyched to hear his opener, Scott Shern, who does a wicked David Bowie. Ordered the first batch of test copies of our second compilation CD, and I'm expecting them next week! Release isn't until Jan. 16th, though... sit tight! If you're not finished holiday shopping yet, stop by the store and pick up a gift certificate for studio recording time -- it's a seriously unique gift that will be remembered forever!
12.8 -- Pshew! Finally getting around to updating news! Young Vulgarians albums are in and they look killer. Mastering our second compilation CD -- expect copies to arrive on time for our January 16th CD release party! Meth PSAs are getting a huge amount of local attention on Myspace -- check it out! Punk Rock Flea Market postponed until Feb, but then it'll be a monthly event! Recording more Buck Up Little Kamper and Pink Cloud Project soon, and have some other surprises in the works. Lots of new poetry events scheduled... woo hoo!
12.3 -- What? A record label in Ketchikan? WHAT?! Yep. Check out all our CD and mp3 content and support what's happening in your community. New event tomorrow evening... Arts Walk. 11.27 -- Buck Up Little Kamper, Pariah, and Damaged Justice are playing at the Salmon tonight at 7pm -- be there! Musical mastermind Sean Mis' Dharma Queen album is up -- for free download!!! Young Vulgarians' Milquetoast on a Catafalque is at the printer... expect copies soon! Profits will be used to establish a special charitable fund to provide $$$ grants for studio time for emerging musicians. Expecting the Drosera album soon, as well... and before you know it, our second compilation CD will be hitting the streets!
